Dr. Waqas Chaudhry joined APT in June of 2020 where he and his team are hunting novel bacteriophage to expand the existing APT Phage Bank ®, evolving bacteriophage to broaden their initial host coverage, and enhancing the anti-biofilm ability of bacteriophages to tackle chronic bacterial infections. He is both an experimental evolutionary microbiologist and a phage biologist. In his Ph.D. thesis, Dr. Chaudhry studied the therapeutic aspect of bacteriophages to treat chronic bacterial infections in patients with Cystic Fibrosis and Diabetic Foot Ulcers. During his postdoctoral training at Emory University, he worked to understand the ecology and evolution of bacteriophage with their host bacteria. His research findings have been acknowledged in well-reputed peer reviewed journals.
